“Dogs welcome with well-behaved humans”
Not surprisingly the Dog Inn concept was born in a pub one very sunny afternoon in Harrogate. It was as a result of seeing a sign that said “Dogs welcome with well-behaved humans” that the grey matter started to muse over a pub that was patronised just by dogs. It was further compounded by the fact that when artist Clare Walton and her partner went to their local with their trusty hound the bar staff knew their dog’s name but not theirs!

Animal lover Clare was surrounded by dogs and horses as she grew up and her passion for animals has remained a focal point in her life ever since. She studied art at Leicester University and what started as a hobby, with the receiving of commissions through family and friends, went on to establish her portrait business Kute Fine Art.

Working in graphite, charcoal, pastel and oil, Clare aims to convey the spirit and depth of expression that is unique to each animal.

Clare explains: “I enjoy working the texture and forms of animals, the different breeds and the different intensities of expression. Every animal has his own unique challenge.

With the Dog Inn regulars I have tried to define each individual personality and reinterpret this into the artwork. The Dog Inn combines my passion for animals and my interests in contemporary art and of course my sense of humour.

I hope you enjoy The Dog Inn as much as I have creating it and don’t forget to log on at www.thedoginn.biz to participate.”
